Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

This past weekend I took down and packed away all of our Christmas stuff!!
(or so I thought! I have a pile of things I found that need to be taken up to the attic now!)

It is very nice to have everything put away and back into place!!
But now it looks kind of bare!!
So I am pulling out the Valentine's Decorations in full force!!

I actually don't have any Valentine's Decorations so I will be making everything.
I have been seeing ALOT of cute things on blogs so i will be stealing using their ideas!!

This one, I acutally came up with by myself!! I am extremely surprised by that!!
I had some denim left over from my atempt at making Sean a denim shirt.
(That is STILL a work in progress!!)

The hearts were very simple.
I just cut a paper heart out and then traced it onto the denim.
Cut the hearts out.
Cut the letters and hearts out of material and stitched them on.
Sewed around them, leaving an opening to stuff them with poly-fil.
Sewed them closed.
and set them on my mantel!!

Dress Up Your Shoes

All four of my daughters and I are in my cousin's wedding! I am very honored and thrilled to the MAX to be able to take part in her special day!! You see, I am the oldest of four kids and all I have are brothers. My mom and her sister each had four kids and looking back it felt like we were all siblings instead of cousins. We did ALOT together. There is a 4 and 5 year age gap between my 'girl' cousins and myself but that didn't seem to bother us.

So when she asked us to be in her wedding I was very happy and I feel like I'm in my sister's wedding instead of a cousin.

Now, back to reality, we are spending ALOT of money to be a part of this wedding! Thankfully, my Aunt bought the flower girls their dresses, but I am in charge of  purchasing guest book attendant dresses, my dress and ALL of our shoes!!!!

I know this is the norm, but when I got married my mom paid for literally EVERYONE'S attire. (Yes, I was spoiled when I got married and I didn't even know it!!!! Shame on me!!!)

Quick Apron

Back in Septemeber I came across a couple of free patterns to make different types of aprons. I picked what I thought would be the easiest and tweaked it a little. My husband tends to ruin his jeans quite frequently, either by battery acid, sharp tools, or splitting them out. I patch where I can and they go into my craft bucket if I can't!
Since we've been married, I've been able to make each one of the girls a picnic blanket out of his jeans.
I grabbed a pair of jeans and cutt off one of the legs, added some scrap material I had laying around and used the back pockets off of a pair of one of my daughters jeans!

And here I have my craft apron!!
